The Wake County Medical Society
(WCMS) is a 501 (c) 6 nonprofit organization that serves the
licensed physicians of Wake County. Chartered in 1903 by the North
Carolina
Medical Society, The Wake County Medical Society membership
includes half of
the county's 1250 active physicians, and provides services
to 615 active physicians and 125 retired physicians.
The Wake County Medical Society manages five medical care programs for medically underserved
citizens of Wake County:
CURRENT COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMS
Project Access
Physician volunteer medical program which serves 1800 poor uninsured men, women & children of Wake County each year.
Community Care of Wake & Johnston Counties
Asthma, diabetes, and sickle cell patient support
CAP-C Medically Fragile Children's Program
Enables 170 children to receive care at home rather than be institutionalized
CapitalCare Collaborative
CapitalCare Collaborative (CCC) is a membership of safety net providers working collaboratively to develop initiatives to improve the health of the region’s medically underserved.

PAST COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMS
Children's Access Program
Outreach program enrolled 5500 children in the Wake County Medicaid Program. Program ended June 30, 2007
Early Childhood Development
Identified and treated three and four year olds with developmental disabilities.
