December 15, 2005 Dinner
The Wake County Medical Society hosted Victor Dzau,
MD, Chancellor of Health Affairs and President and CEO of the
Duke University Health System at the December 2005 dinner meeting.
Dr. Dzau spoke candidly about the role of teaching institutions
in our society and Duke University Medical center’s relationship
to Wake County.
His address touched on eight topics: (1) safeguarding
the public trust; (2) significant challenges; (3) the role of
the academic health system; (4) patient centered care: our responsibility
and commitment to care; (5) the business of medicine: maintaining
the delicate balance; (6) understanding social responsibility:
doing good and doing well; (7) opportunities for partnership.
Dr. Meymandi also spoke at the December 15 dinner
meeting.
